A social studies teacher at a Florida public middle school has been outed as the host of a white supremacist podcast.

The Huffington Post reports 25-year-old Dayanna Volitich, who teaches at Crystal River Middle School in Crystal River, boasted about spreading her racist views to her students during a recent episode of her podcast, “Unapologetic.” Volitich had attempted to conceal her identity by adopting a pseudonym, Tiana Dalichov, while hosting her podcast or publishing bigoted articles and blog posts.

As Dalichov, Volitich has called for genocide against Muslims, who she believes should be “eradicated from the face of the Earth” unless they can somehow alter the Koran so it no longer calls for the killing of “infidels.” She has written that Islam does not belong in the United States and says the world’s second-largest religion poses an existential threat to Western civilization.

Volitich has also praised Kevin MacDonald, an anti-Semitic author, as well as white supremacists including David Duke. She has said that “science” has proven that certain races are more intelligent than others — guess which — and has repeatedly denied the existence of institutional racism and white privilege.

“White Privilege? Prove to me that it exists,” Volitich tweeted last November as Dalichov. “Show me statistics that prove white benefit economically SOLELY because of their race.”

Dalichov’s social media accounts have been deleted or set to private, however Huffington Post captured screen shots of some of her more controversial tweets and posts.

In her most recent podcast on February 26, Volitich bragged about indoctrinating her students with white nationalist ideology, and about nearly getting caught by school officials. According to Volitich, parents have complained about her actions but she lied to her principal, who believed her and “backed off.”

On another right-wing podcast, Volitich said her students often asked her who she voted for in the 2016 presidential election. While she said she would not answer directly for fear of retribution, Volitich said she told them she would reward them if they answered correctly. According to Volitich they all did, by using “logic” and “engaging” with her hateful rhetoric.

Scott Hebert, executive director of educational services for the Citrus County School District, told the Huffington Post that officials “will be looking into the statements she made, checking the validity to see if they violate our code of ethics and policy.”

“[Volitich] does not speak on behalf of the Citrus County School District,” Hebert said. “The views she’s listed are really not in line with how our district operates.”

Update:

Responding to nationwide outrage, Volitich released a statement claiming her podcasts are “satire”:

None of the statements released about my being a white nationalist or white supremacist have any truth to them, nor are my political beliefs injected into my teaching of social studies curriculum. While operating under the Russian pseudonym “Tiana Dalichov” on social media and the Unapologetic Podcast, I employed political satire and exaggeration, mainly to the end of attracting listeners and followers, and generating conversation about the content discussed between myself and my guests.

The views “Tiana Dalichov” espouses do not pervade my professional career. As an adult, my decisions are my own, and my family has nothing whatsoever to do with my social media accounts or my podcast. From them, I humbly ask for forgiveness, as it was never my intention to cause them grief while engaging in a hobby on my personal time.

All future questions about the current situation should be directed to my attorney. I cannot comment further, due to the ongoing school board investigation.
